Because Alan is not standing for any party, electoral law requires him to be
described as 'Independent' on the ballot paper, and his election publicity
follows the same rule.
The United Kingdom Independence Party is campaigning to
take Britain out of Europe, and has questionable views on some issues. Alan
rejects their viewpoint completely. He is anti-racist, and in favour of
Britain playing a full part in a more equal and a more democratic Europe.
