The Thinking behind the Campaign
The thinking behind this campaign is outlined in the statement, Towards a Better Bradford
If Bradford is to move forward, there needs to be more discussion on:
the areas of major concern for the future;
the principal objectives in each of these areas;
the policies and initiatives that will help create a Better Bradford.
Alan Carling has a number of personal views and suggestions on these issues. But there are many different factors to weigh up, and many legitimate points of view to consider. This campaign is meant to start people talking, not to offer finished proposals. It is a new kind of campaign for a new century. The aim is to pass on the feedback from you, the voter, directly to the decision-makers in the Council.
Alan's list of major concerns includes:
- Social Segregation and Multiculturalism
- Political and Religious Extremism
- Education in Bradford
- Interfaith Dialogue and Faith Education
- Anti-social Behaviour
- Economic Regeneration and Prestige Projects
- Citizenship and Participation
- The Council and Politics in Bradford
and these specific issues:
- The War in Iraq
- Planning and Conservation
- Bradford City Football Club
- GM-free Bradford
- The Bradford Festival
