Programme For a Peaceful City

The Programme for a Peaceful City (PPC) was established within the University of Bradford as a network of academics and other citizens concerned with the situation in the Bradford District. It is supported by Yorkshire Forward.

It organises special events and monthly Network Meetings bringing academics together with practitioners and members of community groups to discuss issues of mutual concern, such as Community Development, Interfaith Dialogue and the growth of the Far Right.

It encourages and disseminates academic research into the problems of the District. It supports the development of initiatives in education and training. It facilitates the creation of 'Safe Spaces' where difficult issues can be discussed among a variety of different groups within the District.

It does not work with representatives of extremist groups, but is otherwise neutral in its approach. It is a place for exchanging information and ideas, and is not a campaigning body. Members of the PPC sign up to a Statement of Aims and Principles that establish ethical ground rules for its work.
